Our experience

JS Building services has been building new homes, and improving existing ones, in Norfolk for over 10 years. In that time we’ve grown into a highly skilled team capable of delivering building projects, large and small, from beginning to end.

Our approach

Our aim is simple: to provide you with a one-stop service that removes as much of the hassle from your building project as possible. We can help you get planning permission through building regulations, clearly cost and estimate the work, and then manage the entire project through to completion. Whether we’re helping you design a new bathroom, kitchen, small extension or a complete new building, we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Our reputation

We’re proud to be accredited by Norfolk County Council. We understand that choosing a builder can be difficult so we hope that our standards being recognised in this way will go some way to reassure you that we’re trustworthy and that we’ll take good care of your project.

Where we work

Based in East Ruston in North Norfolk, we work on projects across North and East Norfolk. As a local builder, we’re sympathetic to the region, striving to make our projects enhance the existing architecture and landscape. We’re experienced, for example, in working with the distinctive Norfolk flint work which you see across the region. Contact us to find out more.

OUR TEAM

John Stares
After years of working in high level corporate positions, John decided to follow his real passion and set up JS Building Services. As a qualified engineer he was well equipped to work within the field. 15 years on he is regularly asked to consult on building works/plans/land proposals as a seasoned expert. In his spare time John likes to maintain the same pace to which he works, whether it be his regular Beach Running Club, or his passion for motorbikes you will always find him in the fast lane.
Jo Stares
Originally born a Mancunian, Jo has spent most of her life living in Norfolk where she has raised her and John’s five children. If that wasn’t enough, Jo also spent much of her working life as a teaching assistant at the local school. When she’s not busy keeping everything at home and in the office in check, she likes to go for long walks taking in the wonderful North Norfolk scenery with the two family dogs.
